Electric Treadmill Reviews

Research has shown that walking is still one of the best exercises a person can get. It helps improve the cardiovascular system, the lungs, your circulation as well as a number of other benefits such as weight loss and an improved metabolism. Still, many of us don’t seem to find the time, or the perfect environment, to add walking or jogging to our regular routine. This is where home exercise equipment, most specifically an electric treadmill can come in handy.

When considering buying an electric treadmill (also sometimes referred to as motorized treadmills), there are a number of things to consider such as cost, available space in your home, features and of course the quality of the machine.

The cost of these machines can range from as little as $100 for a used tread mill, all the way up to several thousand dollars for some of the top of the line models. You can find treadmills for sale in a wide variety of places such as your local paper, Craig’s List, Amazon.com or of course your local exercise equipment store or even specialized dealers.

While there are literally hundreds of brands to consider, some of the more popular brands are Life Fitness, Nordictract, Weslo, Proform, York and Elliptical. But in truth this only begins to crack the surface. There are many brands worth considering and you will find reviews throughout this site of the many options available to you.

Another major thing to consider is space. If you have a home gym you might consider looking into used commercial exercise equipment. There are a lot of cheap high-end treadmill options out there available for a cheap price if you go this route. Or, if you plan on simply owning a single machine in your house or apartment, perhaps a folding treadmill is a better way to go. They sometimes have fewer features than their commercial counterparts but for your average person, they will do just fine.

One final thing to be aware of is the quality of your machine. While many of the major brands such as 2nd Wind, Cybex Fitness, Pro Form, Merit and Bowflex come with solid warranties when buying a new machine, the prices can be quite high on the major brands so there is a cost/risk equation to consider. That being said, should your treadmill motor ever break down or should you find yourself in need of some hard to find part, the warranty will certainly come in handy as repair men don’t come cheap.

So whether you are an athlete looking to add some walking or running to your bodybuilding or work out routine, or you are a just an average Joe looking for a cheap folding treadmill with which to loose a little weight and improve your cardio, you have a lot to consider before shelling out your hard earned money on what can be a very expensive piece of equipment. Hopefully the various reviews on this site can help make that decision a little bit easier.
